Job Description:
We’re looking for a self-motivated and detail-orientated Cost manager, to join our PMO team within Capital Delivery. In this dynamic role, you’ll be supporting the delivery of complex, high value projects across the portfolio. You’ll have strong technical skills, excellent communication, and the confidence to challenge and influence stakeholders.
United Utilities is recruiting a proactive and technically capable Cost Manager to support cost control, financial governance and forecasting across a diverse project portfolio. This is not a traditional finance role; it is project-based, fast-paced and central to ensuring effective project delivery.


Key Responsibilities*Manage project costs, budgets and forecasts across a variety of programmes.
*Work collaboratively with Planning, Risk, Controls and Project Managers to ensure accurate data and strong project execution.
*Maintain and manage cost processes in alignment with the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Organisational Breakdown Structure (OBS).
*Support cost control activities, including commitments, journals and accruals.
*Conduct Earned Value Management (EVM) reporting and analyse performance trends.
*Provide clear cost insights and identify variances, risks and impacts to the baseline.
*Maintain accurate cost forecasts and actual cost reporting.
*Review and implement agreed changes to the project baseline in a timely manner.
Skills and Experience*Strong technical experience in Cost Management, Project Controls or Programme Delivery.
*Excellent communication skills, with confidence to challenge and influence stakeholders at all levels.
*Proficient in SAP, Excel and modern cost management systems.
*Experience using Primavera P6 is desirable.
*Ability to learn new processes quickly and work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
*Strong financial awareness with the ability to analyse and interpret large datasets.
*Proactive problem-solver with the confidence to raise issues and propose solutions.
*Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience.
*MAPM, ACostE or equivalent professional qualifications are desirable but not essential.
