SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary School (Newham, East London)
We are currently seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant with strong behaviour management skills to join a supportive primary school in Newham, East London. This is a full-time, long-term position starting after the Easter break 2026.
This role is ideal for someone who is confident working with students who require additional support, particularly those with behavioural or special educational needs. You will play an important role in helping students stay engaged, focused, and supported throughout the school day.
Role Details
*Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
*Location: Newham, East London
*Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:00pm
*Contract: Full-time, long-term
*Start Date: After the Easter break 2026
Key Responsibilities
*Supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in and out of the classroom
*Assisting teachers in managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment
*Providing one-to-one and small group support
*Encouraging student engagement, confidence, and progress
*Implementing behaviour strategies and supporting emotional regulation
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
*Experience working with young people, ideally in a secondary school or SEN setting
*Strong behaviour management skills and confidence managing challenging behaviour
*A calm, patient, and resilient approach
*Good communication and teamwork skills
*A genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs
