Reed Banking are currently supporting aUK-regulated international banking institution in the appointment of an Operations Manager for its London office.
This is a senior leadership role within banking operations, responsible for the effective delivery of payments, back-office functions, and operational governance. The role provides meaningful exposure to senior stakeholders and plays a key part in ensuring operational strength, regulatory adherence, and service excellence.
The Opportunity
The Operations Manager will take ownership of core operational activity across payments and support functions, ensuring processes run efficiently, securely, and in line with regulatory expectations.
You will lead a specialist team, embed strong operational controls, and drive incremental improvements to support business growth, client outcomes, and operational resilience.
Key Responsibilities
This role will suit an experienced banking operations professional who enjoys both leadership and hands-on oversight.
Key areas of responsibility include:
*Managing domestic and international payments activity across multiple channels
*Ensuring all transactions are processed accurately, authorised appropriately, and delivered within agreed service standards
*Maintaining a robust operational control framework, including effective checks, approvals, and risk mitigation
*Leading, managing, and developing operational staff, with a focus on performance, engagement, and capability building
*Acting as a senior point of contact for operational queries, escalations, and decision-making
*Supporting regulatory reviews, audits, and internal assurance activity
*Monitoring and improving operational workflows to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
*Contributing to business change initiatives, including system enhancements and process transformation
*Supporting business continuity arrangements and operational resilience planning
*Working closely with compliance, risk, technology, and front-office teams to ensure joined-up delivery
*Producing relevant management information to support oversight and decision-making
Candidate Profile
Applicants will be proven operators within banking or financial services who are comfortable working in a regulated, detail-driven environment.
Essential experience:
*Strong background in banking operations, ideally with significant exposure to payments
*Demonstrable experience within a regulated financial institution (ideally international bank environment)
*Sound understanding of operational risk, controls, and regulatory expectations
*Experience leading and developing operational teams
*Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high levels of accuracy
*Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management capability
Advantageous experience:
*Exposure to payment schemes such as SWIFT or UK clearing systems
*Experience supporting system change, automation, or operational transformation
*Broader exposure across treasury operations, private banking, or vendor management
