Job Description:
*Experience of completing Subject Access Requests (SARs) and Freedom of Information Requests (FOI), applying relevant exemptions
*Knowledge of GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 and Freedom of Information Act
*Experience of managing cases within a case management system
*Strong IT skills with excellent knowledge of MS Office applications, including Teams.
*Ideally, experience within the public sector (but not essential)
*Strong interpersonal skills, as post holder will be required to work with Council officers across the directorates and with the public
Main Purpose of the job:

Access to Records Officer
*To provide information to the public in response to requests: Subject Access Requests and Freedom of Information Act (FOI) and Environmental Information Regulations
*To process and provide access to records for service users and ex service users who have requested access to their records.
*To ensure that Lewisham Council meets its legislative and regulatory obligations and ensure compliance within the scope of each Act.
*Process all other requests for information that come into the team, within the timescales and principles of the Data Protection Act and FOI/EIR regulations

Summary of Responsibilities and Personal Duties:
Access to Records Officer
*To work with colleagues across the organisation to ensure that responses are provided to requests for information in compliance with FOIA/EIR and DPA legislation. The latter will include SARs and disclosure requests.
*
*Update SAR and FOI/EIR cases on the Council’s Case Management System
*Prepare SAR and FOIs for disclosure to the public, applying relevant exemptions where applicable
*Work with Council services to ensure quality responses and statutory response time limits are met.
*
*To be the first point of contact for the public in respect of SAR and FOI/EIR matters and to resolve any such queries, in conjunction with colleagues across the Councils where necessary.
*Plan and organise own workload to meet stringent, statutory deadlines, identifying risks to service delivery from competing priorities and escalating to senior management, as appropriate.
*Ensure knowledge of relevant legislation is up to date, ensuring a proactive approach to knowledge and development.
