Accountant – Management Accounts

We are looking for a capable and hands-on Accountant to support the Group Financial Controller and help maintain strong financial control across the business. This is a key role, offering exposure to management accounts, statutory reporting, budgeting, and treasury, while working closely with senior stakeholders across the group.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Control
*Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts for multiple trading entities.
*Complete balance sheet reconciliations, supporting schedules, and detailed variance analysis.
*Ensure statutory reporting requirements are met and submitted in line with deadlines.
*Assist with internal and external audit processes, including preparation of reconciliations and supporting documentation.
Budgeting & Forecasting
*Support the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and cashflow projections.
*Work closely with budget holders to support financial discipline and provide meaningful insight.
*Monitor performance against budget and highlight risks and opportunities.
Business Partnering
*Act as a finance partner to Directors and operational managers.
*Provide commercial insight, challenge where appropriate, and support decision-making.
*Assist with the evaluation of business cases and cost-effective initiatives.
Treasury & Senior Support
*Manage daily treasury activities and cashflow forecasting.
*Support the Group Financial Controller and deputise when required.
*Produce clear, concise reports for senior management and the Finance Director.
Team & Collaboration
*Attend monthly management meetings, responding confidently to finance-related queries.
*Support and mentor a Trainee Accountant, assisting with transactional and development activities as needed.
*Work collaboratively with colleagues across finance and the wider business.
Skills & Experience Required
*Strong financial accounting background with experience preparing management accounts.
*Confident business partner with strong commercial awareness.
*Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
*Proven experience with reconciliations, reporting, and variance analysis.
*Advanced Excel skills and experience using financial systems.
*Knowledge of budgeting and financial control best practice (desirable).
