EM Sovereign Analyst
Business Area: Fixed Income, Treasury and Trading

About the role
In your role as EM Sovereign Analyst, you will make a meaningful and valued contribution from the outset. This role will provide a great opportunity to perform deep-dive fundamental economics research on given countries and contribute to investment process.
You will conduct sovereign credit analysis to deliver sustainable long-term returns and complement existing successful systematic strategies for both Hard Currency (HC) and Local Currency (LC) EMD portfolios. In addition, this role will involve contributing to both subjective decision making and overall strategies on both HC and LC EMD portfolios.
What you will be doing
As a trusted part of the Fixed Income, Treasury and Trading team you will be responsible for:
Delivering Results
*Enhance existing EMD investment strategies by adding a subjective decision-making skill based on fundamental country analysis.
*Conduct fundamental assessments (DSA) of countries according to team investment processes.
*Provide guidance and support to less experienced team members in developing country analysis skills.
*Comprehend and assist in the management of the composite impact of individual Country decisions/exposures on overall portfolio risk exposures.
Managing Resources
*Source investment opportunities and leverage external resources for the scheme.
*Be independently curious and self-sufficient in identifying areas of interest and researching them.
Managing Relationships
*Develop close relationships with both Internal and External EMD Managers, Strategists and Research.
*Leverage USSIMs relationship with External Managers to benefit USSIM.
*Internal key relationships are other peers across FITT, PAIR (Performance and Investment Risk), Investment Strategy & Advice (ISA), Manager Selection and Global Emerging Markets (GEMS Equity).
*Aim to collaborate / share expertise across the various teams to maximise benefit to USSIM.
Managing Processes and Future Focus
*Develop and implement country specific investment processes.

*Good writing ability (synthesise complex ideas into concise reports)
*Experience of High Yield and distressed EM bond markets
