Job Description:
The Head of FP&A will lead financial planning and analysis activities within the not-for-profit sector, ensuring robust financial insight and support for organisational decision-making. This role is based in Bath and requires expertise in accounting and finance to deliver strategic guidance and operational excellence.

Description
*Lead and coordinate the development of the 5-year financial plan, supporting strategy through robust scenario modelling, sensitivity analysis, risk assessment, and strategic recommendations.
*Deliver quarterly reforecasts for income and associated costs across multiple locations
*Provide authoritative financial analysis, insight, and advice to inform strategic initiatives, investment decisions, and resource allocation.
*Provide senior-level financial analysis and oversight and narrative for monthly management accounts variances against budget for tuition income, franchise fee, marketing & outreach expenditure and student recruitment commissions, ensuring an accurate interpretation and explanation of variances.
*Produce concise, high impact financial commentary that supports decision-making by senior leaders and budget holders.
*Lead development and refinement of financial models, ensuring accuracy, transparency and strategic alignment.
*Provide advanced scenario planning and financial modelling expertise to support major strategic decisions and risk assessments.
*Line manage the Finance Analyst, ensuring strong performance, development, and continuous improvement.
*Promote collaboration across Finance, including with Finance Systems and Management Accounts teams.
Profile
You will have the following;
*ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or CIPFA or equivalent professional qualification.
*Significant experience working within the university sector in a similar financial planning, forecasting, or analytical leadership role.
*Proven experience of developing financial plans, long-term forecasts, and scenario modelling.
*Experience of successfully leading and managing direct reports
*Experience producing financial analysis for senior leadership decision-making.
*Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling principles.
*Experience working in a complex organisation with multiple income streams and cost drivers.
*Experience of working within the Higher Education sector
