Premises Officer / Caretaker (Full-Time - 5 Days per Week)
Location: Secondary Schools across Southwark
We are seeking a dedicated, experienced, and proactive Premises Officer / Caretaker to join a welcoming and well-established secondary school environment in Southwark. This is a full-time, five-day-per-week role, ideal for a professional who takes pride in maintaining safe, clean, and efficient school facilities.
About the Role
As a key member of the school’s operational team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the premises. You will play a vital role in creating a safe and positive environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
*Oversee the general maintenance, cleanliness, and security of the school site
*Carry out repairs, basic plumbing, electrical, and general DIY tasks
*Manage site opening and closing procedures
*Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and procedures
*Liaise with contractors and external service providers
*Support with setting up rooms and facilities for school activities and events
*Monitor and maintain school equipment and report any issues promptly
Requirements
*Proven experience working as a Premises Officer, Caretaker, or in a similar role within a school or large facility
*Strong practical knowledge of maintenance, health and safety, and site management
*A proactive and hands-on approach with excellent problem-solving skills
*Good communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
*A relevant qualification or degree is preferred
