POST TITLE: Carpentry & Joinery Lecturer
LOCATION: Newbury, Berkshire
HOURS: 37 hours per week
CONTRACT: Full Time, Permanent
SALARY: £33,656 - £39,034 per annum (plus potential £3,000 market premium)
JOB PURPOSE:
To deliver high-quality teaching in Carpentry and Joinery, enabling learners to develop the practical skills, technical knowledge and safety standards required for employment within the construction industry.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Deliver engaging teaching across Carpentry and Joinery programmes including full-time and apprenticeship learners
*Plan and deliver practical and theory sessions covering:*First and second fix carpentry
*Structural carcassing (roofing and flooring)
*Architectural joinery and workshop production
*Power tool safety and maintenance
*Blueprint reading and CAD interpretation

*Manage a safe and productive workshop environment
*Assess learner progress and provide timely, constructive feedback
*Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress and achievement
*Support learners in developing industry-standard skills and behaviours
*Contribute to curriculum development to ensure content remains up to date
*Participate in team meetings, CPD and college activities
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential:
*Level 3 qualification in Carpentry and Joinery
*Extensive site-based or workshop experience
*Experience of apprenticeship delivery and workplace assessment
*Strong communication and organisational skills
*Willingness to work towards a teaching qualification
Desirable:
*Teaching qualification (PGCE/Cert Ed or equivalent)
*Assessor and Internal Verifier qualifications
