Managing Director
Location: Halifax, West Yorkshire
Salary: £125,000 base + bonus + 25% pension + car allowance + benefits
Robert Half are recruiting a Managing Director role to join a long-established manufacturing and distribution business based in Halifax.
This appointment represents a rare opportunity to take full executive responsibility for a well-established manufacturing SME with strong heritage and future growth potential.
The Role
Reporting to the Chairman and Board of Trustees, the Managing Director will have full end-to-end responsibility for the leadership, performance and strategic direction of the business. Key responsibilities include:


*Setting and executing the long-term strategy of the organisation
*Full P&L ownership and oversight of sales, operations, finance and R&D
*Leading a manufacturing operation, ensuring efficiency, quality, and on-time delivery
*Driving best practice, continuous improvement and Industry 4.0 principles across the business
*Acting as a visible, customer-facing leader with key accounts and partners
*Oversight of governance, reporting, compliance, risk management and health & safety
*Hiring, leading, and developing the leadership team and wider workforce
*Ensuring the business has the structure, capability and culture to support future growth
This is a hands-on Managing Director role, balancing strategic leadership with day-to-day operational control.
The Candidate
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded senior leader with:
*Proven senior leadership experience within manufacturing or distribution
*Strong commercial awareness and customer-facing capability
*A track record of driving sales growth and business performance in an established organisation
*Experience leading manufacturing operations, including quality, health & safety and continuous improvement
*Strong strategic planning and execution capability
*A hands-on leadership style, comfortable operating at both strategic and operational level
*High levels of digital and IT literacy, with an understanding of automation, data-led decision making and modern manufacturing technologies
Salary & Benefits
*Base salary: £125,000
*Bonus: Annual performance-related bonus
