Job Description:
We’re working in partnership with a forward-thinking secondary school in Telford that’s ready to welcome a passionate Geography Teacher to its team.
This is a school where expectations are high and inclusivity isn’t just a word on a wall. Pupils are encouraged to think for themselves, speak up, and develop not only academically but socially too. Respect, responsibility, and resilience shape everyday life here, creating a calm, purposeful atmosphere where learning genuinely thrives.
Geography plays a vital role in the school’s vision. Lessons go far beyond maps and case studies. They’re about helping pupils understand the world around them, from local communities to global challenges such as climate change, sustainability, and cultural diversity. Students are encouraged to question, explore, and make meaningful connections between people and places.
This role is all about bringing physical and human geography to life. Sparking those lightbulb moments when pupils grasp how the world works. Inspiring curiosity about environmental issues, global development, and the impact individuals can have on the future of our planet.
You’ll be joining a community where curiosity is celebrated, behaviour is strong, and teachers are trusted to teach creatively. There’s a real sense of shared purpose from day one, with colleagues who collaborate and leadership that genuinely backs its staff.
Values, Safeguarding and CurriculumThe school actively promotes fundamental British values, including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs. Respect and diversity are woven throughout the curriculum, with pupils encouraged to express their views through discussion and debate.
Provision across RP, PSHCE and SMSC supports this ethos. Pupils explore major world faiths and, where possible, visit places of worship during KS3 and KS4. Online safety, extremism awareness, and safeguarding are embedded through a structured life programme, ICT, assemblies, tutor time, and specialist lessons.
Safeguarding is taken seriously. All staff are expected to remain vigilant and follow clear procedures, raising concerns promptly with designated safeguarding leads.
