Exams Manager
Location: Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire
Salary: £31,000 – £36,000 per annum
Contract: Full time, permanent
Start Date: Summer Term or September 2026
REED is delighted to be working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school in the Welwyn Garden City area to recruit an experienced Exams Manager for a permanent, full-time position.
This is a key role within the school, responsible for the effective administration, organisation, and delivery of all internal and external examinations. The successful candidate will play a vital part in ensuring exams are run smoothly, compliantly, and in line with awarding body regulations.
The Role
As Exams Manager, you will:
*Manage and oversee all aspects of the school’s examination processes, including GCSEs and other assessment arrangements
*Ensure compliance with JCQ and awarding body regulations at all times
*Coordinate exam timetables, entries, seating plans, and invigilation
*Line manage and train exam invigilators
*Liaise effectively with teaching staff, senior leaders, students, parents, and external exam boards
*Maintain accurate exam records and ensure deadlines are met
*Support access arrangements and special consideration applications
The Ideal Candidate
*Proven experience in a similar Exams Manager or Examinations Officer role within a school or educational setting
*Strong working knowledge of JCQ regulations and exam board procedures
*Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
*Confident communicator with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
*Able to work calmly under pressure during peak exam periods
*Highly reliable, professional, and discreet
