Job DescriptionThe Learning Manager / Pastoral is responsible for overseeing the development and welfare of learners, fostering a positive and supportive environment that encourages academic success and personal growth. This role includes managing pastoral care systems, coordinating targeted interventions, and collaborating closely with learners, their families, and educational staff to address individual needs and remove barriers to learning. The position is pivotal in creating a safe, inclusive, and motivating atmosphere within the educational setting.
Key Duties and Responsibilities*Develop and implement effective pastoral care strategies to promote learner well-being and engagement.
*Monitor attendance, behaviour, and academic progress, identifying learners who require additional support or intervention.
*Coordinate and lead meetings with learners, families, and external agencies to devise tailored support plans.
*Provide guidance and mentoring to learners, encouraging positive behaviour and resilience.
*Collaborate with teaching and support staff to integrate pastoral considerations into learning programmes.
*Maintain accurate records of pastoral interventions and learner progress, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.
*Organise and deliver training sessions or workshops on pastoral care and learner development.
*Contribute to safeguarding practises by identifying and reporting concerns in line with organisational policies.
*Support transition arrangements for learners joining or leaving the institution.
*Attend relevant meetings, including safeguarding, welfare, and learner support forums.
*Stay informed of current legislation, guidance, and best practise in pastoral care and learner welfare.
Required Qualifications*Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training or an equivalent qualification related to education or pastoral care.
*Evidence of ongoing professional development in pastoral support or learner management.
Education*Educated to degree level or possessing equivalent professional experience within the education sector.
Experience*Proven experience in a pastoral role within an educational or training environment.
*Experience managing learner welfare, behaviour, and attendance monitoring.
*Demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with learners, families, and external agencies.
*Experience in safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Knowledge and Skills*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with learners and stakeholders.
*Strong organisational and time-management capabilities.
*Thorough understanding of safeguarding legislation and pastoral care best practise.
*Ability to analyse learner data to identify trends and needs.
*Confident in record keeping and maintaining confidentiality.
*Proficient in using information technology for reporting and communication.
*Empathy, patience, and a strong commitment to learner development and well-being.
Preferred Qualifications*Qualification in counselling, youth work, or social work.
*Training in mental health first aid or related learner support disciplines.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
