Behaviour Mentor - Secondary Schools (Manchester)

Start: Summer Term & September (Next Academic Year)
Contract: Short-term & Long-term Opportunities (with potential for temp to permanent roles)

Aspire People are currently seeking a bank of experienced Behaviour Mentors to support secondary schools across Manchester. We have a range of opportunities available for the summer term and into the next academic year, with both short-term and long-term positions. Many of our long-term roles lead to permanent employment.

The Role:
This is a varied and rewarding role, combining elements of a Teaching Assistant and Behaviour Mentor. You will work closely with students on a 1:1 basis and within classroom settings to support both behaviour and academic progress.

Key Responsibilities:
* Support students with challenging behaviour, helping them re-engage with education
* Work with pupils with ADHD, poor attendance, and SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs
* Provide in-class academic support alongside behaviour management
* Build strong, positive relationships with students to encourage engagement and progress
* Track and monitor student behaviour, identifying triggers and implementing effective strategies
* Support students in reintegrating into school life
* Apply school behaviour policies consistently and effectively

Ideal Candidate:
* Experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour is essential
* A UK Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or a related field is highly desirable
* Strong understanding of SEMH needs and behaviour management strategies
* Confident in working both independently and as part of a team
* Passionate about making a positive impact on young people’s lives and academic success
* Ability to remain calm, patient, and proactive in challenging situations

Requirements:
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
* References covering the last 2 years
* Proven experience supporting children or young people with behavioural needs
