The Role
We are seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant/ Senior Accounts Assistant to join a friendly finance team. This is a hands-on, varied role ideal for someone looking to take the next step in their finance career within a busy business. You will play a key role across payroll, CIS, purchase and sales ledger, and month-end processes, working closely with colleagues across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll & CIS
*Manage the weekly payroll process end-to-end using Sage 50 Payroll
*Maintain accurate employee records, including starters, leavers, holiday, sickness and deductions
*Administer CIS processing, submissions and reconciliations
*Liaise with NOW Pensions, ensuring auto-enrolment compliance and accurate reporting
Purchase & Sales Ledger
*Process supplier invoices, including Amazon invoices, fuel costs and petty cash
*Prepare and process monthly supplier payment runs
*Set up and maintain supplier and customer accounts in Sage 200, Construct and banking systems
*Raise and post sales invoices, allocations and ledger reconciliations
Month-End & Reporting
*Assist with month-end close procedures
*Reconcile bank accounts, payroll control and balance sheet accounts
*Maintain stock and wage analysis, accurately allocating costs to jobs
*Support with job setup, cost tracking and updates within Construct
General Finance Support
*Handle queries from suppliers, customers and internal stakeholders
*Ensure financial data is accurate, up to date and audit-ready
*Support continuous improvement of finance processes and controls
About You
*Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or Senior Accounts Assistant role
*Strong working knowledge of payroll, CIS, purchase ledger and sales ledger
*Experience with Sage systems (Sage 50 Payroll and/or Sage 200 preferred)
*Construction or engineering sector experience advantageous but not essential
*Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
*Confident communicator and team player with a proactive approach
