SEMH Teaching Assistant - Secondary PRU
Location: Blackley, Manchester
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time (term-time only)
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive Secondary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Blackley, Manchester. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The Role:
*Support pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
*Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging, tailored learning activities
*Help manage challenging behaviour in a calm, consistent, and positive manner
*Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to support their emotional development
*Promote a safe and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
*Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (in a school or similar setting)
*A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
*Strong behaviour management skills
*The ability to remain calm under pressure
*A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
Desirable (but not essential):
*Team Teach training
*Experience within a PRU or alternative provision setting
