Hygiene Lead OperativeLocation: Mexborough
Salary: £32,000 – £34,000
Working Hours: 4 on 4 off (days and nights)
Type: Full Time | Permanent
Elevation Recruitment are proud to be supporting a well-established manufacturing business in Mexborough as they look to recruit a Hygiene Lead Operative to join their team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced hygiene professional to step into a lead position, taking responsibility for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and team performance within a fast-paced production environment.
The RoleReporting into the Hygiene Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the site meets strict hygiene, GMP, and audit standards, while leading and supporting a team of Hygiene Operatives.
Key Responsibilities*Lead and support a team of hygiene operatives on shift, acting as the first point of contact
*Ensure the site is cleaned in line with daily and deep cleaning schedules
*Maintain high standards of health & safety, hygiene, and food safety compliance
*Plan and organise workloads to maximise efficiency and minimise downtime
*Carry out return-to-work interviews, performance reviews, and basic disciplinary processes
*Ensure all team members are fully trained, including chemical awareness and safe systems of work
*Monitor staffing levels and coordinate agency labour where required
*Work closely with engineering, production, and technical teams to ensure smooth operations
*Maintain accurate records for audit, due diligence, and traceability purposes
*Oversee cleaning materials, chemicals, and PPE to ensure availability and compliance
*Support environmental initiatives, ensuring waste is managed in line with company procedures
About You*Previous experience within a hygiene or cleaning role in a manufacturing or food environment
*Experience leading or supervising a team is highly desirable
*Strong understanding of health & safety and hygiene standards
*Confident communicator with the ability to work across multiple departments
*Well organised with the ability to plan, prioritise, and work under pressure
*Proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement
