Lead SAS Developer - Government Programme
£800 per day | Hybrid (2-3 days onsite in Newcastle) | SC Clearance Required
Sanderson Government & Defence is proud to be supporting a key government client in the search for a highly experienced Lead SAS Developer to join a major transformation programme within a central UK public sector organisation.
The OpportunityAs a Lead SAS Developer, you will take ownership of designing and delivering complex data integration and software solutions within a large-scale, multi-team environment. Acting as a subject matter expert, you will lead from the front-guiding technical decisions, mentoring engineers, and ensuring best practice across the development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities*Design, develop, and enhance SAS-based software solutions across enterprise systems

*Lead the implementation of robust ETL pipelines and data integration processes

*Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless system integration

*Take ownership of technical decision-making and contribute to programme-wide strategy

*Conduct testing, debugging, and optimisation to maintain high-quality deliverables

*Mentor junior team members and foster a culture of continuous improvement

*Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices

Skills & Experience Required*Advanced expertise in SAS Data Integration Studio

*Strong experience in custom application development and software engineering principles

*Proven capability with SAS DataFlux ETL tools

*Experience with SAS Event Stream Processing (highly desirable)

*Demonstrated leadership experience within complex delivery environments

*Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills

Essential Requirements*Active SC (Security Clearance), or eligibility to obtain clearance

*Ability to work onsite in Newcastle 2-3 days per week
