Job Description:
Our client, a freight forwarder is looking for a General Freight Forwarder to join their office in Tilbury.
Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Freight Forwarder with a strong background in ocean freight operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end shipments, coordinating with carriers and clients, and ensuring efficient, compliant, and cost-effective movement of cargo.
Key Responsibilities*Coordinate and manage international ocean freight shipments, including FCL and LCL movements
*Handle RoRo shipments (vehicles, machinery, project cargo), including booking, documentation, and tracking
*Liaise with shipping lines, port agents, and hauliers to ensure smooth cargo movement
*Prepare and process shipping documentation (e.g. Bills of Lading, commercial invoices, packing lists)
*Monitor shipments and proactively resolve delays or issues
*Maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and partners
*Update internal systems with shipment milestones and documentation
*Ensure high levels of customer service and communication throughout the shipment lifecycle
Key Requirements*Proven experience in freight forwarding, with a focus on ocean freight
*Hands-on experience with RoRo shipments (vehicles, heavy equipment, or project cargo)
*Strong knowledge of shipping documentation and customs procedures
*Experience working with shipping lines and port operations
*Strong organisational and multitasking skills
*Excellent communication and customer service abilities
*Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
*Proficiency in freight/logistics software and Microsoft Office
