Job Description:
Finance Officer (Part-Time)
*FTE- £31,187 (hourly rate circa £17.00 per hour PAYE)
*Location: Epsom
*Job Type: Part-time (21 hours per week)
*Contract: Permanent
We are currently seeking an experienced and detail-driven Finance Officer to join our team on a part-time basis. This role is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys a variety of tasks, autonomy, and working as part of a supportive and proactive team. The position offers a broad mix of responsibilities across reconciliations, reporting, VAT, funding, credit control, and supporting a well-established technology scheme.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Reconciliations & Transaction Processing:
*Posting and reconciling bank accounts and petty cash within two working days of month end.
*Clearing reconciling items promptly.
*Posting credit card transactions and filing monthly invoices.
*Journals & VAT:
*Preparing and posting monthly intercompany transfers.
*Posting journals to reallocate authorised expenses.
*Preparing and submitting monthly VAT returns.
*Maintaining VAT summary sheets.
*Reporting:
*Producing monthly trial balances.
*Generating aged debtor and creditor reports.
*Preparing additional financial reports as required.
*Funding & Bursary:
*Preparing bank imports for bursary payments.
*Raising accurate funding invoices.
*Recording all funding received.
*Supporting bursary, sponsorship, and apprenticeship-related funding processes.
*Technology Scheme:
*Managing timely contribution collection.
*Producing income and cost forecasts.
*Supporting onboarding and database setup for new joiners.
*Assisting with scheme communications.
*Credit Control:
*Chasing overdue debts and escalating where necessary.
*Completing off-rolling processes for leavers.
*Audit & General Finance Support:
*Providing information for internal and external audits.
*Supporting the Director of Finance & Operations with ad hoc tasks.
*Assisting with banking cash.
*Taking and submitting monthly gas meter readings.
*Safeguarding:
*Following all relevant safeguarding procedures and promoting high welfare standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Experience in a similar finance role.
*High numeracy skills and exceptional attention to detail.
*Strong written and verbal communication skills.
*Excellent customer service approach.
*Honest, reliable, and able to maintain confidentiality.
*Strong IT capability, especially within Excel.
*Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
*Logical, methodical problem-solver.
*Positive, proactive, and team-focused attitude.
*Conscientious and flexible.
