An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Geoenvironmental Engineer to join a well-established and growing environmental and geotechnical consultancy in Basingstoke. This role offers the chance to work on a wide range of brownfield redevelopment and contaminated land projects across the UK, with clear progression into leadership.
The Role
As a Senior Geoenvironmental Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering technically robust and commercially aware solutions across a diverse project portfolio. You will be responsible for managing projects from initial site investigation through to remediation and verification.
Key Responsibilities
*Managing and delivering geoenvironmental and contaminated land projects
*Designing and overseeing ground investigations
*Interpreting geotechnical and chemical data and producing factual and interpretive reports
*Conducting Phase 1 Desk Studies and Phase 2 Site Investigations
*Risk assessments (human health, groundwater, and gas)
*Designing remediation strategies and verification reporting
*Liaising with clients, regulators, and multidisciplinary teams
*Mentoring junior engineers and supporting team development
Requirements
*Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
*5+ years’ experience in a geoenvironmental or contaminated land role
*Strong knowledge of UK contaminated land legislation and guidance
*Experience with risk assessment tools (e.g., CLEA)
*Excellent report writing and communication skills
*Full UK driving licence
Desirable
*Chartered status (or working towards) with a relevant body (e.g., ICE, CIWEM, or Geological Society)
*Experience managing projects and client relationships
*Knowledge of geotechnical principles
