Part-Time Management Accountant (16 hours Per Week Job Share Position)


Hours: 16 hours per week (for clarity, full-time working hours 8.30am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday - 8.30am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday, including a paid 1-hour lunch break)


Preferred working pattern: Ideally 4 hours per day across 4 days per week. We would ideally like the successful candidate to work mornings, where possible, to enable regular liaison with the Director and close collaboration with the wider finance team.


Salary: £20,284.16 per annum for 16 hours per week (full-time equivalent £47,541 based on a 37.5-hour working week).

Working arrangement: This role requires regular attendance at the Silverstone office due to the collaborative nature of the position and the need for close liaison with the Director, the wider finance team and the company’s bookkeepers.


Job Overview
To provide additional finance support as part of a job share arrangement alongside the current Management Accountant, helping to ensure the smooth running of the finance function. The role will work closely with the Director, the current Management Accountant and the company’s bookkeepers to maintain strong financial control, timely reporting, good communication and continuity within the department.


Main Responsibilities
*Work alongside the current Management Accountant as part of a job share arrangement, ensuring effective communication, handover and continuity of work
*Liaise regularly with the Director, current Management Accountant and company bookkeepers and accountants regarding finance priorities, deadlines and ongoing tasks
*Support the supervision and review of bookkeeping activities to help ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records
*Assist with urgent and time-sensitive payments, including salaries and other priority disbursements
*Review supplier payment information and support the timely processing of payments
*Support day-to-day cashflow monitoring and help maintain visibility of outgoing commitments
*Liaise with HMRC and other external bodies as required in relation to finance and payroll matters
*Assist with month-end processes and preparation of monthly management information, including reporting packs and project breakdowns
*Support bonus calculations in line with internal processes
*Liaise with payroll providers and external advisers as required
*Assist with budget preparation, forecasting and ad hoc financial analysis
*Maintain accurate financial records, filing systems and audit trails
*Support the continued development and strengthening of finance processes within the business
*Undertake any other duties reasonably required by the business, consistent with the level of the role


Person Specification
Essential
*Minimum of 3 years’ experience in management accounting or a similar hands-on finance role
*Good practical understanding of day-to-day finance and bookkeeping processes
*Experience of month-end processes, management reporting, cashflow visibility and day-to-day finance operations
*Experience of using Xero or similar accounting software
*Good Excel and spreadsheet skills, including confidence using pivot tables
*Strong attention to detail and accuracy
*Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
*Confident communication skills and the ability to liaise with directors, colleagues and external contacts
*Ability to work collaboratively as part of a job share arrangement
*A confident and capable approach, with the ability to hit the ground running and work with a good level of autonomy
*Comfortable working independently on some days, while maintaining effective communication and collaboration with the wider team
*Experience of supporting budgeting and forecasting
*Experience of payroll liaison and HMRC communication
*AAT or CIMA qualified, part-qualified

This role requires regular attendance at the Silverstone office due to the collaborative nature of the position and the need to liaise closely with the Director, the wider finance team and the company’s bookkeepers. Some flexibility may be considered in line with business needs and individual circumstances.
Additional hours may be offered during periods of maternity leave cover and at other times, depending on workload and business needs, but these are not guaranteed.
