Warehouse Manager

About the RoleOur client is looking for an experienced and hands-on Warehouse Manager to lead day-to-day warehouse operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods while maintaining high standards of accuracy, productivity, safety, and customer service.
You will lead and develop a high-performing team, drive continuous improvement, and ensure operations align with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities*Manage all warehouse activities, including goods-in, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch
*Ensure orders are fulfilled accurately, on time, and in line with customer expectations
*Optimise warehouse layout, workflows, and stock locations to improve efficiency
*Maintain accurate inventory through cycle counts and stocktakes
*Monitor and report on warehouse KPIs such as productivity, accuracy, and service levels
*Lead, motivate, and develop warehouse staff, including training, coaching, and performance reviews
*Plan and allocate labour and resources to meet operational demands
*Promote a positive, accountable, and continuous improvement culture
*Ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation and conduct regular risk assessments
*Oversee the safe use and maintenance of warehouse equipment, including forklifts
*Ensure adherence to company policies, security procedures, and quality standards
*Identify and implement process improvements using Lean, 5S, or similar methodologies
*Support the effective use and optimisation of the Warehouse Management System (WMS)
*Work closely with senior management and other departments to align warehouse operations with business goals
*Liaise with transport providers to ensure timely collections and deliveries
*Resolve operational issues, discrepancies, and stock-related queries promptly
Skills & Experience*Proven experience managing warehouse or logistics operations in a fast-paced environment
*At least 5 years’ experience managing teams
*Strong leadership, people management, and communication skills
*Solid knowledge of warehouse processes and inventory control
*Experience using WMS and Microsoft Office
*Good understanding of UK Health & Safety regulations
*Forklift licence (FLT) desirable but not essential
*Highly organised with strong problem-solving abilities
*Able to manage multiple priorities and remain calm under pressure
*Hands-on, proactive, and results-driven approach
*High attention to detail and accuracy
*Reliable, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement
