Job Description:
Deputy Headteacher – Secondary (SEMH)
Location: Bromley
Salary: £75,433–£82,816
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Start Date: September
A leadership role that truly changes lives
This is a rare and exciting opportunity for an inspiring, resilient Deputy Headteacher to play a pivotal role in an all-through Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) provision, supporting pupils from Key Stages 1 to 5 with Education, Health and Care Plans.
The academy has made significant progress in recent years and continues to build momentum. With strong trust-wide systems in place and the backing of an experienced and committed leadership team, the school is on a clear journey towards becoming a centre of excellence for inclusive education.
About the role
Working closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team, you will take strategic and operational responsibility for driving high-quality teaching and learning within the secondary phase, raising standards and improving outcomes for some of the most vulnerable young people in education.
You will thrive in a fast-paced, complex environment, bringing clarity, compassion and confidence to your leadership. This is a role for someone who believes deeply in the transformative power of education and is motivated by making a tangible difference every single day.
What we’re looking for
We are seeking a leader who:
*Has proven experience as a middle or senior leader in an SEMH, Alternative Provision or secondary mainstream setting
*Demonstrates exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire, influence and unite teams
*Is values-driven, inclusive, and holds high expectations for all pupils
*Can balance strategic thinking with hands-on leadership
*Is committed to safeguarding, wellbeing, and achieving the best possible outcomes for students and their families
Why join us?
*A genuinely impactful leadership role where your work changes lives
*The opportunity to develop within a successful and supportive multi-academy trust
*Collaboration with experienced senior leaders across the trust
*A chance to shape and strengthen a growing secondary provision
*Competitive senior leadership salary (Outer London L14–L18)
If you are an ambitious, compassionate leader ready for your next challenge — and want to be part of something that really matters — we would love to hear from you.
