Job Description:
Counselling Tutor (Sessional)
*Hourly Rate: £36.12 - £37.92 per hour, depending on qualifications
*Location: Mixed (1 day onsite, 1 day offsite for marking)
*Job Type: Part-time
We are seeking a dedicated Counselling Tutor to prepare students to become safe, ethical, and competent counselling practitioners. This role involves supporting students’ academic, personal, and professional development while adhering to training standards and ethical requirements.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Enable students to meet the learning outcomes and assessment criteria set by CPCAB Level 4 and NCFE Level 3.
*Support the development of counselling skills, theoretical understanding, and reflective practice.
*Promote ethical awareness in accordance with CPCAB and NCFE models, professional frameworks of BACP, and safeguarding requirements.
*Monitor student progress and identify concerns relating to fitness to practise.
*Act as a gatekeeper to protect clients, students, and the integrity of the profession, in line with CPCAB and BACP expectations.
*Teach the course effectively, using digital technologies for online course delivery when necessary.
*Assess student progress throughout the course and provide constructive feedback.
*Attend departmental meetings and carry out required administrative tasks.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Counselling qualification at Level 4 or above.
*Teaching/training qualification or willingness to work towards one.
*CPCAB/NCFE tutor approval (or eligibility).
*Proven experience in adult education or relevant experience in leading diverse adult groups.
*Strong understanding of the ethos of adult education.
*Recognised qualification in teaching adults or commitment to acquire one within two years.
*Proficient in structuring and delivering courses, monitoring, and evaluating them.
*Excellent communication skills and ability to work with mixed ability groups.
*Experience with digital technologies in teaching practice, including online course delivery via platforms like Zoom.
