Job Description:
Our client is a highly regarded regional housebuilder with an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality homes across Norfolk and Suffolk. With a steady pipeline of work and around 100 units built per year, they operate locally, typically within an hour of their Suffolk office, and pride themselves on quality, consistency, and strong working relationships.
They are now looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to join their close-knit commercial team.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, you will be responsible for managing the full commercial lifecycle of residential housing developments from inception through to final account.
Key responsibilities include:
*Managing all commercial aspects of residential housing projects
*Preparing budgets, cost plans, and cashflow forecasts
*Procuring subcontractors and placing orders in line with company procedures
*Assessing, valuing, and processing subcontractor applications and payments
*Preparing, negotiating, and agreeing variations and final accounts
*Monitoring costs, producing cost/value reconciliations, and managing commercial risk
*Working closely with site teams to provide proactive commercial support
*Ensuring compliance with contractual and commercial requirements
*Undertaking some direct procurement of materials and subcontract services
About You
To be considered, you will ideally have:
*Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within residential housing development
*A strong understanding of subcontract procurement and commercial management
*Good contractual awareness and cost control skills
*Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
*The confidence to work autonomously while contributing to a small, collaborative team
