Overview
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to support the ongoing reliability and performance of production machinery. This is a part-time position (2 days per week) with flexibility on working days, offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer seeking a flexible working arrangement.

We are a UK market-leading provider of returnable transit packaging solutions, offering a fully integrated service including the rental, pooling, washing, repair, and management of equipment such as plastic crates, trays, and pallets.

We support a wide range of industries including food, automotive, retail, and logistics, helping customers reduce costs and improve sustainability through reusable packaging systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repair of onsite production machinery, including conveyor and feed systems, palletising/stacking equipment, pumps, and motors.
- Diagnose and evaluate mechanical and electrical faults, providing clear feedback and recommendations to the Management Team.
- Perform systematic fault-finding activities to minimise downtime and ensure efficient production operations.
- Plan and execute Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) activities, including managing maintenance schedules and coordinating works with site management.
- Interpret and work from technical drawings, schematics, and manuals to support maintenance and repair activities.
- Conduct pre-shift inspections to ensure all machinery is correctly lubricated, safe, and ready for production.
- Accurately complete maintenance records, reports, and documentation for all PPM and reactive works carried out.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance equipment reliability and performance.

Role Requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a maintenance engineering role within a production, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding skills; basic electrical knowledge would be advantageous.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a wider engineering team.
- Competent in reading and interpreting technical drawings and engineering schematics.
- Effective communicator with the ability to engage with colleagues and stakeholders across the business.
- Proactive, organised, and capable of managing workload and priorities effectively.
- Full UK driving licence and access to own transport (due to site location).
Working Pattern & Remuneration
- Part-time: 2 days per week (flexible on days to suit both the business and the successful candidate).
- Competitive rate of pay, with flexibility depending on experience and skill level.

Desirable
- Experience with automated production lines or packaging machinery.
- Familiarity with CMMS or maintenance management systems.
- Relevant engineering qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering).
- Understanding of health & safety requirements (e.g. PUWER awareness).
