Credit Manager
Location: Poole (BH12 area)
Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 (dependent on experience)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Working Hours: Office-based, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm

Are you a driven Credit Manager ready to make a real impact in a fast-moving FMCG environment?
A well-established and growing food distribution and meat wholesale business based in Poole (BH12) is looking for a confident and commercially astute Credit Manager to take full ownership of its credit function. Supplying a wide range of products across the UK, the business is part of a wider retail and distribution group and continues to expand within a competitive, high-volume market.
This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a pivotal role where you’ll have real influence—balancing risk, cash flow, and customer relationships while helping to support ongoing growth.
Key Responsibilities
As Credit Manager, you will lead the credit control function and play a key role in protecting and improving the company’s financial position.
*Leading and developing the credit control team and overseeing daily operations
*Setting, reviewing and optimising customer credit limits and payment terms
*Proactively managing aged debt and driving timely collections
*Reducing debtor days and minimising bad debt risk
*Handling escalated queries and resolving complex disputes
*Producing insightful reporting on debtor performance and credit risk
*Building strong, lasting relationships with key customers and internal stakeholders
*Supporting cash flow forecasting and working capital optimisation
*Ensuring robust compliance with company policies and procedures
*Driving continuous improvement across credit control processes
*Collaborating closely with credit insurers to secure and maintain appropriate coverage across the customer base (negotiable)
Experience & Skills
The ideal candidate will bring strong credit control experience from a fast-paced, high-volume environment such as FMCG, wholesale, distribution, or similar.
*Proven experience in a Credit Manager or senior credit control role
*Experience leading or supervising a team
*Strong understanding of credit risk, insurance and debtor management
*Experience working within an SME or growing business environment
*Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills
*Strong Excel and reporting capabilities
*A proactive, hands-on and commercially focused mindset
*CICM qualification (preferred)
