Job Description:
Liability Loss Adjuster
Location: London/Greater London
Overview:
We are partnering with a leading specialist loss adjusting practice operating at the forefront of the UK liability and claims resolution market, to appoint a Liability Loss Adjuster into their established and growing team.
This role offers the opportunity to work within a highly technical and litigation-aware environment, handling a varied portfolio of Employers’ Liability (EL), Public Liability (PL), and Product Liability claims, across both insured and uninsured exposures. You will be dealing with matters involving bodily injury, property damage, third-party liability, and complex causation and quantum disputes.
The caseload will typically include slips, trips and falls in commercial and public spaces, manual handling and workplace injury claims, defective workmanship and contractor liability, occupier’s liability incidents, and third-party property damage arising from insured operations. Many files will involve early-stage liability investigations through to negotiated settlement or litigation support, often in collaboration with insurers, solicitors, and claims handlers.
This is a technically focused role within a highly regarded liability adjusting environment, offering strong exposure to pre-litigation strategy, causation analysis, indemnity decisioning, and structured claims resolution.
Role Responsibilities:
*Manage a portfolio of EL, PL, and associated liability claims from first notification to settlement or litigation conclusion
*Conduct site investigations, witness interviews, and scene assessments to establish liability, causation, and contributory factors
*Gather and analyse evidence including incident reports, CCTV, RAMS, maintenance records, and witness statements
*Assess policy indemnity, coverage triggers, exclusions, and notification compliance
*Prepare detailed liability reports, reserve recommendations, and coverage opinions for insurers
*Liaise with insureds, claimants, brokers, legal representatives, and third-party experts
*Instruct and manage external specialists including medical experts, engineers, forensic investigators, and legal counsel where required
*Drive quantum evaluation and negotiation strategy, including heads of loss analysis in injury-related claims
*Support or attend mediation, settlement conferences, or litigation proceedings where necessary
*Ensure all claims handling is compliant with policy terms, pre-action protocols, and regulatory frameworks (including FCA expectations where applicable)
*Maintain accurate file management, diary systems, and audit-ready documentation
Experience Required:
*Circa 2-4 years’ experience in liability adjusting, insurance claims handling, or defendant claims environment
*Strong exposure to Employers’ Liability and/or Public Liability claims is essential
*Working knowledge of causation, liability apportionment, and quantum assessment
*Familiarity with RTA-adjacent injury principles, occupiers’ liability, or construction/contractor claims desirable
*Experience handling litigated or pre-litigation personal injury/property damage claims advantageous
*Strong analytical, investigation, and negotiation skills
*Confident managing external stakeholders including solicitors and insurer clients
*Full UK driving licence required
What’s on Offer:
*Opportunity to join a highly respected specialist liability adjusting function within a global claims organisation
*Exposure to complex liability files spanning EL, PL, product and multi-party causation disputes
*Strong technical support from experienced liability adjusters, legal specialists, and senior claims professionals
*Structured development and mentoring with clear progression into Senior Liability Adjuster and Specialist Technical roles
*Hybrid working model with a balance of field investigations and desk-based analysis
*High-quality caseload with genuine scope to develop advanced liability and litigation-handling expertise
*Career progression within a globally recognised, technically strong adjusting environment known for its depth of expertise in complex claims resolution
