My client, a national professional services organisation has asked me to assist to in the hiring of a SQL Developer to join their business-critical technology team based in Birmingham city centre.
The role supports a high-volume, automated case-management platform and is ideal for someone with strong SQL skills who enjoys problem-solving, analysing workflows, and working closely with the business, rather than purely greenfield development.


The Role
You’ll operate at the intersection of Support and Delivery, focusing on complex SQL-driven issues and small enhancement pieces that originate from live operational systems.
Initially, your work will centre around a high-volume service line that is fundamental to the organisation’s day-to-day operations, where data accuracy and system stability are essential.
The role offers variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to develop deep system and domain knowledge over time.


Key Responsibilities:
*Writing and maintaining SQL queries and scripts in a live production environment
*Investigating and resolving complex, multi-day technical support issues
*Assessing system dependencies and business impact before implementing changes
*Supporting a workflow-based / case-management system
*Converting complex support tickets into small, deliverable enhancement pieces
*Working closely with developers, support teams, and business stakeholders


Required Experience:
*Strong, hands-on SQL experience (support or delivery focused)
*Background in technical application support or similarly complex environments
*Comfortable working on issues requiring detailed analysis and business understanding
*Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
*Confident communicator with technical and non-technical teams
Desirable Experience
*Experience with case-management or workflow systems
*Exposure to professional services, financial services, legal, or regulated environments
*Understanding of how business processes map to data and system logic
Important Information
*Role is based in Birmingham city centre
*Hybrid working: 3 days per week onsite
*Candidates must already be established in the UK
*No sponsorship available
