Job Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accounts Assistant to join a highly respected property investment and development business in London. This role offers the chance to become an integral part of a collaborative finance team, supporting a diverse portfolio that includes commercial business parks, residential developments, and large-scale office projects. As an Accounts Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of day-to-day financial transactions across asset management, development, and corporate overheads. The organisation is committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where your attention to detail and methodical approach will be valued. With a focus on continuous improvement, you will have the opportunity to contribute ideas for new processes and systems as the company strives for best-in-class standards. This contract position provides exposure to a wide range of financial activities and stakeholders, making it ideal for someone looking to further their career in finance within a dynamic and progressive setting.
Responsibilities
* Reviewing, verifying, and matching invoices to ensure accuracy before processing them through the accounting system.
* Ensuring all purchase invoices are processed promptly and settled within agreed timelines to maintain positive supplier relationships.
* Entering sales and purchase ledger data into the accounting system with meticulous attention to detail.
* Setting up new accounts for customers and vendors while maintaining accurate records for audit purposes.
* Auditing employee expense claims thoroughly before processing payments in line with company policy.
* Posting bank transactions accurately and performing monthly bank reconciliations to ensure financial integrity.
* Preparing aged debtors and creditors reports, managing the shared accounts mailbox, and distributing finance post efficiently.
* Coordinating weekly payment runs and raising intercompany or customer invoices related to property or asset management fees as required.
* Overseeing annual ground rent billing processes and handling cheque payments securely.
* Responding promptly to queries from vendors or internal stakeholders while providing ad-hoc support to the wider finance team.
The Ideal Candidates
* A minimum of three years’ experience working within purchase ledger or similar transactional finance roles in a busy environment.
* Sound knowledge of accounts payable and receivable practices with proven ability to process high volumes of transactions accurately.
* Excellent analytical skills paired with exceptional attention to detail when reviewing financial documents or reconciling accounts.
* Strong interpersonal skills that enable you to build effective relationships with both internal colleagues and external suppliers or customers.
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel alongside familiarity with other relevant software such as PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
* Experience using SAP or similar enterprise resource planning systems is highly desirable but not essential if you can demonstrate adaptability with new technologies.
* A hands-on approach combined with a rigorous methodology ensures every transaction is completed correctly first time.
* Comfortable working amidst ambiguity; able to contribute constructively towards developing best practice processes from scratch over time.
* Demonstrated ability to take ownership of work streams while remaining dependable within a team-oriented environment.
* Alignment with cultural values such as collaboration, respectfulness, progressiveness, authenticity, along with excellent communication skills at all levels.
