Head of Compliance
Location: Manchester (office-based)
Salary: £65,000–£80,000 basic
A growing and well-established specialist consultancy in the R&D tax space is seeking an experienced Head of Compliance to lead and strengthen its compliance function.
This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the quality, accuracy and regulatory robustness of R&D tax submissions, while supporting the ongoing development of internal processes in line with evolving guidance and best practice.
Key responsibilities:
*Leading the compliance function across R&D tax claim activity
*Reviewing and overseeing technical accuracy and evidential standards
*Maintaining alignment with current HMRC expectations and enquiry trends
*Supporting process improvement and risk management frameworks
*Acting as a senior technical point of contact internally
*Mentoring and supporting junior compliance team members
Requirements:
*Minimum 2+ years’ experience in an R&D tax compliance-focused role
*Strong technical understanding of the UK R&D tax relief landscape
*Experience reviewing claims and supporting enquiry responses
*Confident operating in a senior or leadership-level capacity
*High attention to detail and strong professional judgement
