Job Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Financial Accountant to join a highly respected financial institution based in London. This role offers you the chance to play a pivotal part in supporting the Head of Finance, ensuring regulatory compliance, and contributing to the ongoing success of the finance team. What you’ll do:


*Provide day-to-day support to the Head of Finance by assisting with departmental tasks and supervising staff when required, ensuring smooth operation of the finance function.
*Prepare and support all regulatory submissions to relevant authorities such as the Bank of England and the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA), maintaining strict adherence to UK regulatory obligations.
*Assist with Corporation Tax and VAT preparation and submissions, collaborating with external consultants to ensure timely and accurate filings with HMRC.
*Prepare daily profit and loss statements including detailed variance analysis and insightful commentary for management review.
*Draft Financial Statements for the branch and provide comprehensive support during external audits, ensuring accuracy and compliance at every stage.
*Contribute actively to finance projects and process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency across all departmental activities.
*Perform daily control and reconciliation checks on Flexcube data, investigating discrepancies and resolving queries related to accounting movements within the trial balance.
*Monitor and review all General Ledger accounts under the responsibility of the finance area, ensuring records are up-to-date and compliant with internal procedures.
*Support the Head of Finance on departmental projects by providing analytical input, documentation, and training to other finance staff as needed.
*Ensure all departmental procedures reflect current systems and processes by regularly reviewing policies in line with changes in regulations or technology.




What you bring:


*Qualified or finalist-level accountant status (ACCA/CIMA) demonstrates your technical competence in financial accounting principles.
*Experience working within a finance department of a banking branch is essential for understanding regulatory requirements specific to this sector.
*Demonstrated knowledge of PRA supervisory returns as well as Bank of England statistical reporting ensures you can manage complex compliance tasks effectively.
*Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word is required for handling large volumes of data accurately and efficiently.
*A customer-focused approach combined with excellent interpersonal skills enables you to build positive relationships both within your team and with external stakeholders.
*Dedication to compliance means you consistently adhere to relevant regulations set by UK authorities such as FCA/PRA/HMRC.
*Information management skills allow you to organise data methodically while safeguarding sensitive information appropriately.
