Credit Hire / RTA Litigator (x2)
Location: UK – Hybrid or Fully Remote (Firm based in Greater Manchester; office attendance optional)
Salary: £30,000 – £45,000 DOE + Performance Bonus
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
About the Role
A Greater Manchester–based claimant law firm with a growing national presence is seeking two experienced Credit Hire / RTA Litigators to join its expanding litigation team.
This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a mixed pre-litigated and litigated credit hire caseload, including more complex matters such as taxi and private hire vehicle claims. The firm offers genuine flexibility, including fully remote working, with the option to attend the Greater Manchester office for those who enjoy a collaborative, team-based environment.
You will manage files from inception through to settlement or trial, with a strong focus on maximising recovery and robustly challenging insurer positions on liability, hire rate, period, and mitigation.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of RTA matters including credit hire, vehicle damage, storage and recovery
Conduct litigation from pre-action through to trial
Draft CPR-compliant Particulars of Claim, Witness Statements, Part 18 Responses and settlement correspondence (WPSATC)
Review and prepare Hire Payment Packs (HPP) and Loss of Use (LOU) chronologies
Handle disputes relating to intervention offers, mitigation arguments, Basic Hire Rate challenges, period of hire and impecuniosity where applicable
Engage with insurers, solicitors and third parties to achieve early, commercial outcomes
Prepare cases for hearing and liaise with Counsel where required
Required Experience & Skills
Minimum two years’ experience handling RTA litigation (credit hire essential)
Strong working knowledge of Copley v Lawn, Stevens v Equity Syndicate Management Ltd and Hussain v EUI Ltd
Experience handling defended matters and negotiations with insurers
Ability to manage a busy caseload independently
Strong drafting and negotiation skills
Commercial mindset with a focus on maximising recovery
Desirable Experience
Taxi and private hire vehicle claims
GTA and non-GTA hire disputes
Impecuniosity arguments and disclosure strategy
Previous claimant-side credit hire experience
