Job Title: Part-Time Legal Counsel (12-Month Fixed-Term Contract)
Location: King’s Cross, London (Hybrid – 1 day per week in office)
Working Pattern: 3 days per week
Salary: Up to £73,000 pro rata
Contract Type: 12-month FTC
OverviewOur client is a nationally recognised charitable organisation operating within the arts and cultural sector. With a large and engaged membership base and partnerships across a wide network of institutions, the organisation plays a key role in supporting access, inclusion, and development within museums and galleries across the UK.
They are seeking a part-time Legal Counsel to provide expert legal support across the organisation. This role offers the opportunity to work at the centre of operations, advising on a broad range of legal matters while contributing to a mission-driven and socially impactful environment.
Responsibilities*Provide high-quality legal advice across a wide range of matters, including commercial contracts and partnerships
*Draft, review, and negotiate agreements with suppliers, funders, members, and partner organisations
*Ensure organisational compliance with relevant legislation, regulatory frameworks, and internal policies
*Act as a key advisor on data protection matters, ensuring best practice and regulatory compliance
*Deliver training and guidance to internal stakeholders on legal and compliance issues
*Work collaboratively with internal teams to identify pragmatic, risk-aware solutions
*Manage relationships with external legal counsel and oversee associated budgets
Requirements*Qualified solicitor in the UK with current registration with the SRA (or equivalent)
*Demonstrable post-qualification experience in a broad commercial or in-house legal role
*Strong knowledge of data protection legislation and compliance requirements
*Ability to work independently and manage a varied legal workload
*Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and advise stakeholders at all levels
*Commercially minded with a pragmatic and solutions-focused approach
