Financial Accountant

About the Role
Reed Finance are partnering with a South Yorkshire based organisation in the Not for Profit sector who are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join its central finance team. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will lead on all aspects of financial accounting across multiple academies, while line managing an Assistant Financial Accountant.
This is a broad and influential role, working closely with senior stakeholders to ensure strong financial governance, compliance, and high-quality reporting.
Key Responsibilities
*Lead the annual accounts and external audit process
*Manage balance sheet control, cashflow, banking and investments
*Oversee capital income and expenditure forecasting and monitoring
*Prepare and review monthly management accounts, including payroll journals
*Ensure compliance with ESFA, HMRC (VAT and Corporation Tax)
*Act as lead for finance systems, ensuring they are effective and fit for purpose
*Embed strong financial governance
*Line manage and develop the Assistant Financial Accountant
About You
*Proven experience in financial management, reporting and statutory accounts
*Strong understanding of financial controls, reconciliations and cashflow management
*Advanced Excel skills
*Ability to translate complex financial information for non-finance stakeholders
*Experience within the public or charity sector is desirable
