Regulatory Solicitor – Leeds
A leading national legal practice is seeking a Senior Associate or Legal Director to join its highly regarded Health & Care Regulatory team, with a particular focus on local authority work.
This is a senior opportunity within a well-established team advising organisations across health, social care, housing and education. The role offers exposure to complex, meaningful work with a strong public service impact, alongside a genuinely flexible and family-friendly working culture.
The Opportunity
The team operates across multiple UK offices, with a fully flexible hybrid working model that supports home working as the norm. The organisation places a strong emphasis on work-life balance, autonomy and trust and is open to discussions around working patterns that suit individual circumstances and family commitments.
You will join a large, collaborative group of specialist Lawyers working across advisory and litigation matters.
The role has a strong focus on local authority clients, particularly in:
*Children’s services
*Court of Protection work
*SEND matters
You will also have exposure to broader regulatory and public law work, including inquests and related advisory matters.
This is a senior position offering the opportunity to take ownership of a varied caseload, contribute to strategic client development and play an active role in shaping team direction and growth.
Key Responsibilities
*Manage a varied caseload of advisory and contentious matters
*Advocate in Court of Protection hearings and Tribunals
*Provide high-quality legal advice to local authority and public sector clients
*Support and contribute to business development activity, particularly within the local government sector
*Assist with supervision and mentoring of junior colleagues
*Build and maintain strong client relationships
*Contribute to wider team strategy and service development
About You
This role will suit an experienced public law or Regulatory Lawyer who is confident operating at a senior level within a client-facing environment.
Key requirements:
*Significant experience in health, social care, education, or local government law
*Strong technical ability across advisory and/or litigation work
*Experience working with public sector clients, particularly local authorities
*Strong advocacy experience (Court of Protection or tribunal experience desirable)
*Experience in business development and client engagement
*Ability to supervise or support junior team members
