Lloyd Barnes Recruitment is pleased to be partnering with an accountancy practice based in Cornwall to appoint an Accountant. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced accounting professional seeking to advance their career within a supportive and busy firm. Our client is open to considering part-time or flexible working arrangements for the right candidate.
As the Accountant, you will play a key role in managing a diverse portfolio of clients, building strong relationships, and delivering high-quality financial and advisory services. You will act as a trusted advisor, supporting clients with their business growth while ensuring compliance and best practice.
The responsibilities:
*Lead and manage a diverse client portfolio while driving departmental performance and productivity.
*Review and quality-check work completed by team members to ensure accuracy and compliance.
*Inspire, coach, and develop junior staff through mentoring and continuous feedback.
*Build and nurture strong, trusted relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
*Prepare, review, and finalise financial statements and tax returns to the highest professional standards.
*Oversee bookkeeping processes and VAT return submissions, ensuring timeliness and precision.
*Provide proactive guidance, advice, and support to both clients and colleagues across all service areas.
*Uphold company standards by ensuring full compliance with internal policies, procedures, and key performance metrics.
*Engage in ongoing professional training and development to enhance technical and leadership capabilities.
*Identify and implement opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency across the department.
The candidate:
*ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent QBE / working towards)
*Proven experience within an accountancy practice
*Strong technical knowledge of accounts and tax
*Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
*Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
*A proactive and client-focused approach
