R&D Technologist

Reed Scientific is recruiting for a R&D technologist to join a leading independent supplier of polymer compound solutions. This role is ideal for both new graduates and experienced technologists, offering tailored responsibilities and development opportunities. You will support research and development activities, contribute to new product development, improve existing formulations, and resolve technical and quality-related challenges in manufacturing.
Day-to-Day of the Role:
*Support or lead the development, testing, and validation of new formulations and product improvements.
*Conduct laboratory trials and assist with scale-up and production trials.
*Collect, analyse, and interpret technical data to support product and process development.
*Provide technical support to production and quality teams to resolve processing and quality issues.
*Assist with or lead the optimisation of manufacturing processes for efficiency, consistency, and safety.
*Support investigations into non-conformances and corrective actions.
*Contribute to or manage technical and R&D projects, potentially including academic collaborations.
*Work closely with cross-functional teams including production, quality, commercial, and external partners.
*Prepare technical reports, trial summaries, and presentations for internal stakeholders.
*Ensure adherence to Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment standards and company procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Degree (or equivalent experience) in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
*Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
*Ability to interpret technical data and communicate findings clearly.
*Well-organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
*Proactive approach with a willingness to learn and adapt.
*For graduates or early-career applicants: Relevant academic laboratory or project experience.
