Job Description:
Hot Area Lab Technician
Witham, Essex
up to £29,000 including Shift Allowance
6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm rotating every 4 weeks
Permanent; Full time
We are working with an award winning employer to find a Lab Technician in the Witham area to join their team. As part of the role you will be working within the science and research industry. Full training will be provided; however a keen interest in science is a must!
This role would suit someone looking for a change in direction of career, who is active and has a keen interest in working within a scientific environment. Full training will be provided.
Due to the shift pattern you must be a car driver or live within Witham and not reliant on public transport due to the shift patterns.
Duties :
*Initial weighing of samples into cups
*Mixing samples with litharge using an extracted cupboard
*Accurate weighing of metals
*Ensuring the lab is kept clean whilst maintaining safety standards
*Using hand held pump truck to move material
*Placing samples into crucibles and melting within a furnace
*Pouring small amounts of molten material into moulds
Experience :
*Excellent attention to detail
*Good communication skills as it will be a team based role
*Good level of flexibility in both time and work
*Maths and any science subject GCSE grade C or higher (Essential)
*No previous furnace experience required as full training will be supplied
