Accounts Assistant | Basingstoke | £35,000 | Hybrid (3 days office, 2 WFH)
We’re working with a growing, fast-paced business in Basingstoke who are looking to hire an Accounts Assistant to join their finance team.
This is a great opportunity for someone with accounts experience who enjoys a hands-on role and is looking to build their skills within a supportive and collaborative environment. You’ll play a key part in the day-to-day running of the finance function, with a focus on purchase ledger, expenses, and wider finance operations.


The Role
This is a varied position where you’ll take ownership of core finance processes while supporting the wider team. You’ll be responsible for ensuring transactions are processed accurately, queries are resolved efficiently, and financial records are well maintained.


Key Responsibilities
*Processing supplier invoices, ensuring accurate coding and timely posting
*Matching, batching, and reconciling invoices against purchase orders and approvals
*Managing employee expenses, ensuring compliance with company policies
*Maintaining supplier records and supporting onboarding and changes
*Assisting with payment runs, including preparing payment schedules and resolving queries
*Supporting accounts receivable processes, including posting sales invoices
*Posting bank transactions and assisting with bank reconciliations
*Supporting month-end activities and maintaining a clear audit trail
*Handling supplier and internal queries in a professional and timely manner
*Identifying process improvements and supporting changes within finance operations


About You
*Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant / Finance Assistant role
*Strong understanding of purchase ledger and/or expenses processes
*AAT studying or qualified (or equivalent experience)
*Good Excel skills and confidence using finance systems
*Strong attention to detail and ability to manage a busy workload
*Proactive, organised, and able to work to deadlines
*A confident communicator who can build relationships across the business
