Section Maintenance Engineer – Heavy Engineering
We are looking for a Section Maintenance Engineer to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production plant within a heavy industrial steelmaking environment. You will be responsible for maintaining key assets, minimising downtime, and driving continuous improvement in a fast-paced, safety-critical operation.
Key Responsibilities
*Deliver planned preventative maintenance and respond effectively to breakdowns.
*Fault-find and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
*Take ownership of assigned plant and equipment, including cranes and heavy machinery.
*Lead improvement activities to enhance reliability, safety, and performance.
*Supervise contractors and ensure compliance with site safety standards.
*Record work and manage spares using a CMMS (e.g. SAP).
*Ensure all work complies with LOLER, PUWER, and site safety procedures.
Requirements
*NVQ/ C&G/HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
*Experience in steel, heavy engineering or other other manufacturing such as Aerospace, Nuclear, Defence, Oil & Gas, Automotive etc
*Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
*Safety-focused approach with good communication skills.
*18th Edition would be advantageous
