Job Description:
EHC Plan Coordinators
*Pay Rate: £18.35 per hour PAYE
*Location: Rotherham Council, Rotherham, S61 1HE
*Job Type: Full-time, Temporary Contract (2 - 3 months)
Rotherham Council are looking for three EHC Plan Coordinators to join our dedicated team for a 2 - 3 month contract. This role is crucial in coordinating information and advice for the statutory assessment of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. The position involves developing and reviewing high-quality Education, Health and Care Plans (EHC), ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and the Children and Families Act (2014).
Day-to-day of the role:
*Coordinate and liaise with practitioners to develop and review EHC Plans.
*Work collaboratively with parents/carers, children, and young people to co-produce EHC Plans, ensuring their views and wishes are integral to the process.
*Provide advice and support to schools, colleges, and other professionals on the assessment, planning, and review process.
*Promote robust multi-agency working and ensure all parties contribute to the assessment process.
*Draft and finalise high-quality, clear, accessible, and outcome-focused EHC Plans.
*Monitor statutory annual reviews, including key phase transfers, and amend EHC Plans adhering to statutory timescales.
*Organise and chair annual reviews of EHC Plans, particularly for young people without an educational placement.
*Regular site visits to schools are required as part of the role.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Proven experience in a coordinator role within a local authority, specifically related to SEND.
*Strong familiarity with the SEND Code of Practice and Children and Families Act.
*Ability to work independently with minimal training and a clear understanding of statutory processes and deadlines.
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills, suitable for a range of audiences.
*Experience conducting EHCP assessments and annual reviews.
*Good working knowledge of SEND and relevant legislation.
*Ability to manage conflict and create positive partnership relationships.
*Proficient in using a range of computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
*A valid basic DBS will be required.
