Job Description:
Dalton Recruitment has a fantastic opportunity with one of their top clients in Woking, Surrey, who are looking for an experienced Payroll professional who can take ownership of the full end to end payroll delivery for about 600 UK employees, currently split over 4 monthly payrolls, ensuring the timely and precise processing of all payroll related information and that all employees are paid correctly and within established deadlines.
Additionally the position has HRIS responsibility, ensuring the integrity and reliability of the UK elements of the HR Systems and data and contributing to their ongoing process improvements. In doing so, the new UK Payroll Lead will work closely with the People, Finance & Operational teams to ensure the effective integration and alignment between UK Payroll and HR Systems.
The position is based out of the client’s Woking offices and will support the European Head of Payroll& HRIS in delivering the UK elements of broader business critical projects including payroll integrations and new HRIS system implementations - so the overall context of the role offers a varied and exciting range of responsibilities and development opportunities.
As such it will require presence in the office 4 days/week including regular travel to their Kent offices, with the ability to work from home 1 day/week.
Payroll Responsibilities:
*Oversee the end-to-end payroll cycle, ensuring accurate and timely processing in line with statutory and company requirements.
*Maintain accurate employee records, ensuring all starters, leavers, and contractual changes are updated promptly.
*Calculate and process all adjustments, allowances, deductions, overtime, salary changes, and leave entitlements.
*Administer CSP and SSP, maintaining running balances and adjusting pay as required.
*Complete statutory checks, including pensions, SMP/SPP/SAP, student loans, and other required deductions in line with the monthly payroll checklist.
*Reconcile payroll reports and fulfil all statutory obligations, including RTI and pensions compliance.
*Prepare payroll journals and work with Finance to support month-end and year-end reporting.
*Manage system updates, testing changes to pay elements, and supporting process improvements.
*Act as a knowledgeable system user, ensuring accuracy, data integrity, and efficient payroll workflows.
*Build effective working relationships with HR, Finance, IT, and operational managers to ensure smooth payroll delivery.
*Stay current with payroll legislation and guidance, advising the business on relevant changes.
*Review and maintain payroll documentation, process maps, and internal controls to align with best practice.
*Manage team workload distribution, ensuring payroll, reporting, and compliance deadlines are met.
*Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes for improved efficiency and employee experience.
*Support audits, compliance reviews and risk management activities.
*Keep up to date with changes in payroll legislation.


HRIS Responsibilities
*Responsible for maintaining the UK HRIS system, ensuring compliance with legislation and audit processes.
*Oversee the integrity, maintenance and functionality of the HRIS and any related systems.
*Lead data audits and quality checks to ensure system accuracy and compliance.
*Drive system improvements, upgrades and automation initiatives in collaboration with IT and other external stakeholders.
*Develop and deliver regular HR reports including dashboards and insights for leadership.
*Act as a role model for our Principles and challenge behaviours / thinking that does not align to our cultural transformation journey.


Key Skills & Experience to be Considered:
*Minimum 3 years’ experience in Payroll delivery within a complex organisation
*Strong understanding of HRIS and payroll systems (Oracle would be advantageous)
*Sound knowledge of employment legislation, taxation and payroll compliance
*Computer literacy including Word, Excel and Outlook (advanced Excel and data analysis skills essential)
*Excellent organisation skills with ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines
*Good administrative skills, well organised and attention to detail
*Good interpersonal skills, including a positive and adaptable attitude
*Experience of managing a diverse and heavy workload within a busy environment
*Experience of working with colleagues at all levels
*Proven ability to handle confidential information and able to respect confidentiality and discretion
