Job Description:
Accountant - Public Sector
*Hourly Rate: £24.30
*Location: LS1, Leeds
*Job Type: Temporary, Full-time (Interim)
*Office Requirement: Approximately 2 days per week
We are seeking a qualified Accountant to act as a finance partner to Professional Services leads within a public sector environment. This interim role requires a professional who is adept at financial management and experienced in working with senior management to present monthly financial positions. Experience in a Local Authority setting is preferable.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Act as the day-to-day finance partner to Professional Services leads.
*Manage financial aspects including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
*Present monthly financial positions to senior management.
*Proactively participate in and lead key financial accounting tasks such as the production of statutory annual accounts, reconciliations, external returns, and claims.
*Lead on revenue and capital budget planning, monitoring, variance analysis, forecasting, and reporting of key variances.
*Work in partnership with Directorate budget controllers/holders, providing advice, challenging when necessary, and resolving issues.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Qualified Accountant – ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, or equivalent.
*Experience in financial management including budgets, forecasts, and variances.
*Proven track record of working with senior management.
*Preferable experience in a Local Authority setting.
*Strong analytical skills and ability to handle complex financial data.
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.
