Import Customs Operations Specialist - Ocean & Air

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Import Operations Specialist to manage end-to-end freight movements, ensuring efficient and compliant handling of import shipments. The successful candidate will have strong operational knowledge across air and sea freight, along with hands-on experience in customs clearance procedures.
Key Responsibilities
· Manage end-to-end freight shipments from booking through to final delivery
· Prepare and issue accurate customer quotations
· Coordinate closely with overseas agents and partners
· Complete and process import customs entries using CDS (Customs Declaration Service)
· Ensure all shipments comply with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) regulations
· Handle shipping documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading
· Monitor shipment progress and resolve any operational issues or delays
Requirements
· Previous experience in airfreight operations (seafreight experience also required)
· Strong understanding of end-to-end freight forwarding processes
· Experience with import customs procedures and documentation
· Working knowledge of CDS and the UK Customs Regulations
· Excellent organisational and communication skills
· Ability to work independently in an office-based environment
Desirable Skills
· Experience working with multiple international trade lanes
· Knowledge of tariff classification and import duties
· Familiarity with Incoterms
