Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) –
Subject Focus: PE and/or Humanities (Planned Lessons)
Location: Lichfield
Start Date: After May Half Term
Contract: Long-term Supply
We are seeking an outstanding and confident Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join an inclusive Alternative Provision school in Lichfield, working with pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4 (Years 7–11).
This long-term supply role is an excellent opportunity for a skilled HLTA who is confident delivering planned subject lessons with a focus on: PE and/or Humanities (Planned Lessons) and passionate about supporting young people who require a flexible, nurturing, and consistent approach to education.
The Role
As a HLTA, you will:
*Deliver planned lessons to pupils in Years 7–11
*Work confidently with whole classes, small groups, and individuals
*Adapt lessons to meet the needs of learners with SEMH and behavioural challenges
*Support pupils to remain engaged, motivated, and emotionally regulated
*Maintain a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment
*Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and personal development
*Build strong, respectful relationships that support re-engagement with learning
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for the right person, with the confidence, presence, and adaptability to succeed in an alternative provision environment. You will be:
*An outstanding HLTA with experience leading learning
*Reliable, resilient, and flexibly adaptive to changing needs and age groups
*Confident managing behaviour and maintaining clear routines and expectations
*Comfortable delivering pre-planned subject lessons independently
*Passionate about supporting vulnerable children and young people
Experience working within SEMH, Alternative Provision (AP), PRU, and/or Special Education settings is highly advantageous, but most important is your confidence, strong classroom presence, and ability to positively engage challenging learners.
