Claims Advisor
Location: Colchester (office-based; hybrid working available after probation)
Salary: £26,000 - £28,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:30pm
Requirement: Must be able to drive
Overview
The Claims Advisor is responsible for managing legal expenses insurance claims from initial notification through to settlement, ensuring claims are handled efficiently, compliantly and with a strong focus on customer service.
Claims may include personal injury (motor and non-motor), employment, contract disputes, property, landlord and tenant matters, clinical negligence and criminal prosecution.
You do not need prior experience in the insurance or legal sector - full training and ongoing support will be provided. This role is well suited to graduates or candidates looking to build a long-term career in claims or insurance.
What is involved
*Manage new and ongoing legal expenses insurance claims in line with policy terms and service standards
*Assess policy coverage and prospects of success, clearly explaining decisions to customers where claims are declined
*Liaise with policyholders, solicitors and internal teams to progress claims efficiently
*Appoint solicitors, agree instructions and monitor costs within authorised limits
*Ensure accurate and timely updates to the claims management system
*Handle inbound and outbound calls professionally, maintaining confidentiality and data protection standards
*Monitor claim progress, manage diaries and ensure agreed timescales are met
*Review settled claims, check legal invoices and support cost control processes
