Temporary School Business Manager- Full time or Part time
Temporary Contract until July 2026 | Start ASAP
Hours: 8:00am - 4:00pm | Open to Full-time or Part-time
Location: LS9 area | Free On-site Parking
Hourly Rate: £18.00 - £18.50 per hour
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated School Business Manager to support two primary academies within the Leeds and Bradford area. This is a temporary position until July 2026, offering flexibility around hours to suit the successful candidate.
Working closely with Headteachers and senior leaders, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and effective financial, operational and strategic management across the academies.
The Role
You will be responsible for the successful business and operational management across the academies, including:
* Leading business management services across two primary academies, providing on-site support to Headteachers
*Managing financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and monitoring income and expenditure
*Ensuring effective use of Trust financial systems and payroll processes in line with policies, timetables and VAT regulations
*Overseeing procurement, tendering, audits, invoicing and contract management
*Supporting budget holders with financial procedures, training and management information
*Preparing project appraisals, funding bids and managing long-term initiatives
*Developing and monitoring financial procedures to ensure compliance with Trust regulations
Premises, Operations & Health and Safety
*Managing service contracts, facilities and lettings to maximise cost effectiveness and income
*Monitoring and controlling capital expenditure on buildings, grounds and IT
*Managing premises staff and external contractors, including cleaning, catering and maintenance
*Acting as the lead officer for health and safety, ensuring compliance and clear communication
*Ensuring academy documentation and communications are produced to a high professional standard
*Ensuring safeguarding, HR policies and Single Central Record requirements are fully compliant
About You
* Essential: Previous experience working within an education setting and a Business Manager or Operational support
*Highly desirable: Experience within a primary school environment
*Strong financial, budgeting and procurement experience
*Knowledge of HR, facilities management, health and safety and GDPR
*Highly organised with excellent communication and leadership skills
*Able to work across multiple sites and manage competing priorities
