Financial Accountant
£45,000–£50,000 | Permanent | Nottingham | Hybrid
We’re looking for a qualified Financial Accountant to join a friendly, down?to?earth finance team in Nottingham. This is a hands?on, broad role with real ownership — ideal for someone who enjoys variety, problem?solving and improving how things are done, rather than sitting in a rigid corporate setting.
Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you’ll take responsibility for day?to?day financial accounting while helping to shape reporting, controls and processes as the finance function continues to evolve. What you’ll be doing
You’ll own a wide and interesting remit, including:*Running the monthly close end to end
*Producing management accounts, P&Ls, variance analysis and commentary
*Preparing budgets, forecasts and longer?term plans
*Overheads reporting and supporting budget holders
*Managing VAT returns, payroll journals and balance sheet reconciliations
*Supporting the audit process and statutory reporting
*Monitoring cashflow and capital expenditure
*Improving reporting and reducing manual work on Sage
*Strengthening financial controls, processes and documentation
This is a hands on, pivotal role, central to the smooth running of the finance function. What we’re looking for*Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent) or part?qualified and close to final exams
*Strong financial accounting experience in industry or practice
*Solid understanding of FRS102 and core statutory requirements
*Confident producing management accounts and analysis
*Reliable, detail?focused and comfortable owning deadlines
*Happy working in an agile, SME?style environment

Nice to have*Practice or audit background
*Experience with Sage or similar ERP systems
*VAT and payroll exposure
